Hi friend! We're excited to "meet" you! You might be wondering how we started The Bloom Workshop, so we're here to tell you. The two of us, Ashley & Michaela, met through blogging about 6 years ago. We met in person for the first time on Easter, when we realized we were living in the same town after Ashley moved to the Bay Area in California, where Michaela was already living. We (thankfully!) hit it off and became fast friends. Each with our own creative talents and brand new businesses; Ashley starting her photography business and Michaela, her interior design business, we pushed each other to dream big and were each other's biggest cheerleaders!
Fast forward a few years, Ashley and her husband moved home to Michigan, and Ashley's ploy to get Michaela to move there, too, succeeded. She introduced Michaela to a handsome guy, and as they say, the rest was history. (Fun Fact: Ashley was Michaela's maid of honor in her 2016 wedding!) Michaela moved to Michigan and once again, the pair was together creating and nurturing their businesses. We realized we were both fielding many emails a week with questions about how we started our businesses and blogs, what it takes to run a profitable creative business, and tons of questions in between. We saw a great need, especially in the Midwest, for a workshop that taught on these topics. We also saw a deep desire in small creative business owners to connect with others in their field, be inspired (or re-inspired!), and learn practical tools they could put into practice in their businesses tomorrow.
Out of these realizations, The Bloom Workshop was born! Our first workshop was held in Rockford, Michigan and sold out in a few hours. We decided to host another local event, and it sold out quickly again. It was at this time, in 2014, we decided to fully jump in as business partners, bringing The Bloom Workshop experience all around the country, serving women in creative businesses. It is our joy and honor to serve our attendees, as we do not take their decision to learn from us lightly!
Michaela
Michaela has always had a passion for interior design, as she grew up building floor plans out of jenga blocks, spanning the entire width of her bedroom. As a creative little girl, she was always looking for her next design project, enjoyed helping her mom in the garden, and making a mess in the kitchen with her latest baking recipe. Her passion for design has truly always been apart of her life. Michaela graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in interior design from Seattle Pacific University and an AA degree in interior design from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. She has been authoring her design and lifestyle blog since Fall of 2010 and launched her own interior design business upon graduating, where she enjoys serving people and families by creating homes they love. Michaela is a California girl at heart, but lives in Michigan with her new husband.

Ashley
Ashley has always loved telling stories. When she was younger, she was constantly busy crafting tales inspiring and evoking emotion. When she discovered photography, she learned how to tell stories in a whole new way; an incredibly beautiful way. This interest in photography was sparked in 2010 while traveling coast to coast (and everywhere in between) with her husband. Four years later, Ashley specializes in weddings, couples, and lifestyle photography with an emphasis on natural lighting and film. Ashley lives alongside her husband, two baby boys and yorkiepoo in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where she photographs beautiful details and eats an exorbitant amount of sushi. Hailing from Georgia, Ashley has a love of all things southern, including grand front porches, sweet tea and Alabama football.
